He did not fly alone, but with another pilot who helped Hilton-arber by telling him what figures were on the navigation instruments. The 58-years-old pilot said: "It's the fulfillment of an amazing dream. I've been waiting to do this flight for about four years." He added: "I've wanted to be a pilot since I was a kid. Now I'm totally blind but I've had the chance of flying more than halfway around the world. He described the most important thing for him: The big deal is not me doing this, it s raising funds," he said. Hilton-arber has been blind for 25 years. He hopes his trip will raise over two million dollars for the charity "Seeing is believing", which works to provide treatment for eye diseases in poor countries. His flight is not the first adventure he has been on. In 1999, he competed in the "Toughest Foot-race on Earth" a run across the Sahara Desert. He then went on to take part in the "oldest Marathon on Earth", across Siberia. lso, he has climbed mountain Kilimanjaro and mountain lanc, frica's and Europe's highest mountains. He also set the Malaysian formula 1 lap record for a blind driver in a 200 kilometer-per-hour Lotus. He is also a highly experienced microlight pilot, having undertaken one of the first ever long distance flights in a microlight from angalore, India to the Farnborough ir Show, raising over 200,000 for charity. 10 10 Part 4 Questions Read the text about Sharks in Hong Kong. questions 21 30, complete the notes. ONE WORD from the text for each gap. Hong Kong s Killer Sharks Sharks are found in all types of oceans but mostly they are found in warm seas. The tiger shark in particular is one of the most dangerous animals in the sea of Hong Kong. In late May and early June leading up to the hot summer, they are seen along the beaches because the weather is often very bad. The water temperature goes up and down which makes the sharks come into the shallow waters during the daytime. s a result, over the years, there have been many shark attacks in Hong Kong. People have died in some of these accidents. The situation was similar every time, the person was swimming alone in the early morning when the shark attacked. Like all sharks, tiger sharks have hundreds of sharp teeth that are arranged in rows of up to 10. These teeth never stop growing, every time the shark loses a tooth another comes out. In the ocean, sharks must have excellent senses to find their food. Most sharks have excellent hearing and sight abilities, they can see in the dark better than cats do, but their best sense is that of smell. Tests have shown that sharks can smell one part of blood in a million parts of water which makes the sea around Hong Kong one of the most dangerous places for swimmers. Tiger sharks are well-known for eating almost everything; they have been called the garbage cans of the sea. They usually hunt at night in deep water and eat tin cans, tyres, sea birds, sea turtles, snakes, even parts of other sharks have been found inside their stomachs. Most of the public beaches in Hong Kong are now protected by nets that separate the sharks swimming area from that of people. Whenever sharks appear in Hong Kong, red flags are put out on beaches, which warn people not to go swimming near such areas. Many of Hong Kong s 30 public beaches are closed when this happens. People should never go into the water when a red flag is flying and if they really want to go swimming, they should go to a swimming pool instead. It may be more crowded, but it's certainly a lot safer. Despite all the attacks, sharks have important roles in keeping oceans healthy and in balance by eating the sick and injured fish in order to keep a healthy fish population.
11 11 omplete the notes below, using ONE WORD from the text for each gap.
